The insurance company of the person who injured you will not pay any of your bills until you are ready to settle your case. We advise that you not settle your case until your doctor has released you from treatment. However, in many cases, your own car insurance will have coverage that will pay for your medical treatment. If not, you should use your own health insurance. After the case settles, your health insurance will be paid back from your settlement. This will allow you to continue to receive treatment from your doctors and keep your credit report free of any collection activity. If you do not have any type of insurance, some medical providers will work with your attorney to continue treatment by attaching a medical lien to your case so that they will be paid from your settlement.
